Default p0171 system too lean bank 1

as the title says pulled this code from my mondeo duratec engine ( 2l) the car seem to have not much power when driving and you put your foot down it struggle to accelerate and some time looses all power and i have to pull in turn it off the set off again trying not to accelerate hard, Ive checked the map sensor and done a resistance reading on egr also done fuel pressure test, all seem to be fine. Any help would be grate full

i think its your lambda sensor mate, the first one in the system that controls the fueling. second one checks the cat is functioning correctly.

There are several possibilities.
Could be a defective Oxygen sensor. Could also be an air leak in the exhaust manifold.
Or there's a problem with the fuel pressure. Have you run the fuel tank (almost) empty lately?

Could be a clogged filter or even fuel pump.
You should measure fuel flow over a longer time to diagnose this problem.

that might be it, as if the tank falls just below 1/4 full the car takes a few attempts to start as start and then cuts out straight away for a couple of goes

Take it to a dealer or independent with the right equipment and read out codes.
Then check sensor signals in live data.
