Default Help! Very strange noise.

Hi all, I have a very strange noise coming from my car when the clutch is up, and it's in neutral. It's a kind of knocking, but used to only do it when cold, now it does it most of the time (only when stopped and in neutral with no pressure on clutch). Just got in, and its now making a kind of whiring noise aswell, that kind of 'speeds up' dependent on the amound of pressure on the clutch. Car had a low milage engine and re-con gearbox fitted about 1000miles ago, so it seems strange that it's doing this. Car is a 2001 (mk5) fiesta zetec S. Any help would be appreciated!
Sam.

these are prone for clutch release bearings being noisy but that wouldnt make a knocking noise tho just a dry bearing noise

hmm, the whiring could be bearing, would the noise change dependent on the preesure on the clutch? I only noticed that noise tonight though, the other noise has been there for a little while. Cheers for your input

Yes noise could change with the pressure on the clutch pedal, a lot of fords have a noisy bearing, but it defo won't cause knocking.

I know my engine mounts are a bit worn, could this have something to do with it? It's not a massive knock, like bottom end or something, just a slight clunking.
