I have a 1.6 zetec escort mark 6 cab.when you quickly hit the accelarator it splutters.so if i pull off at the lights it would splutter for a second and then it would pull fine until about 5000 revs then it would just keep you there.if you try to overtake someone you would probably die.the car starts first time hot or cold no problem and the tick over is bang on.i have changed the plugs,leads and coil pack.still no good.anyone any idea's.thank's

 

sounds like a vacuum leak. could be any where.

 

More than likely the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) needs to be adjusted.

I pulled the air mass sensor wireing plug off and now its perfect.They say when you pull the plug off, the car would run better.That means the sensor is no good.Anyway i replaced it with a new one and its the same as the old one.so still getting no where.

 

Is the "New" sensor actually new? You could try resetting the ECU perhaps to see if this does any good as it may still have a fault logged.

well when i say new it was off a 1.6 zetec escort.but is was only been on the car for a about two weeks.you can see that it is new.anyway it just seems strange that i put it on and its doing the same as my old one,which is telling me i think that it isnt the sensor.i'm a bit lost now.you say reset the ecu.would i just unplug it.i dont want to lose my radio code by taking my battery off.any more idea's.thank you
