Default rs turbo missing but clears under boost

Drove my escort home from work gave it a bit of stick in third and started missing and throwing out black smoke of exhaust. But then when u come back on boost clears untill i come off throttle and on again. When i rev it in neutrul misses all the time no white smoke just black. Seems to be electrical cap and rotor are nealy new have a spark on all cylinders.Has anyone had this problem i suspect plugs took them out and gaps seem fine and they look ok ANY HELP APPRECIATED THANKS

black smoke is usually excessive amounts of fuel or unburnt fuel in the dodgy cylinder

i would say that under boost there is more air to compensate the fuel, perhaps its just overfuelling on the one cylinder is it efi or mfi?

just a thought while its dark out just go and start the car up and look under the bonnet, it is a good way of the checking the plug leads as you will see them arcing out if they are knackered
