BULB HELP
hi can somebody please help me. i have a mondeo ST24 estate.
i have tinted the rear lights and now the rear lights at night are not as bright as i think they should be. i no i shouldnt have tinted them.
anyway i am looming for some nice bright led bulbs to replace the standered ones.
only problem is i have no idea what the called in the car.
the rear light bulbs for the mk2 mondeo estate work the rear lights and he fog lights as they have 2 elements in them. also he pins on them are not opasit each other they are off centre and one is higher than the other.
anybody no the name or type of blulbs these are? or maybe where i can get some led one that replace the twin element bulbs?

1157 is the type, the single filament version is the 1156.
The dual filament version is a BAY15D, the single filament is a BAY15S version.
You won't get led's brighter, try some HALOGEN versions of your existing bulbs from

Just looked, the std bulb as you know is 21/5 21 watts on brake/fog and 5 watts on side/tail light.
There are 12v 35/35 and 45/45 available in this fitting, but I have had in the past from this site 10/35 watt in halogen so more like 20/70!!

hi thanks for your help been looking on ebay at 1157 bulbs but the pins on them even tho they are one higher up the bulb than the other they still seem in line with each other when loking from the bottom. the pins on mine are not directly in the centre to each other one is off. the only way i can explain is is you mesure pin to pin one ide will be closee than the other side
My brother-in-law had some aftermarket light's on the back of is golf the side light's weren't very bright so he just took the bulb to halfords and asked for some brighter ones, job done!!!
I didn't know you could get brighter one's and even if you could didn't think it would be that easy.

I know precisely the bulbs you are reffering to, a lot of more modern fords and other makes are fitted with them, as so many pillocks couldn't even put a tail/stop bulb in correctly, so they had 1 "brake" light showing when is was driving along.
I think the small car company may do the ones you want, otherwise you could do what I have done before and fit different bulb holders, just cut away the bulb holder strip as needed, resoldering any wires/tracks that needed cutting, can use the parallel pins ones then, you could even then use a " stand off", in place of the bulb base and then use MR11 bulbs ranging in wattage from 3 watts up to 150watts.

I looked up your bulb in my big book of words, and it is a BAZ15D, sorry not the 1156/57 ones.
I will try to find you some brighter ones, if not carly lamps can make them, but serious money, unless you want 100!!
The other common number for it is the 7004-11C.
