Default escort 1.8 gti missfire problem

i have just got an escort again but its running like crap.
changed plugs and leeds but still missfireing

lacks power and missing when driving it.any ideas anyone?

coilpack, thats if it sounds like it's firing on 2 cylinders.

Also check the maf 1st by disconnecting it, it's the 3plug connector near the airbox.

will do now...and also smells like its running rich and used 1/3 a tank of fuel over 60 miles.

pulled maf plug off and a def change in the engine so i am guessing its not that.

only thing is to do is change the coil pack...would that make it use loads of fuel then?

Did you drive it with maf disconnected? Try it driving without it connected


Reason your smelling fuel is because of the misfire.

yeah gave it a run around the block and even worse with it disconnected.

well...when buying coil pack lad in there said it might be the lamba sensor....had a look and a snapped wire....cured!
