overheating

Default overheating

Hi all this my first propper post and its a problem . Over the last few days my lil sportka has started to overheat. I've changed the thermostat and header tank cap. and blead all the air but still overheating.
anyone got any ideas.

I was going to say do the cap but you've done that already. Does the fan kick in? if it doesn't I'd see if the fans siezed or check the coolant temp sensor

fan has'nt kick in i'll power it up of a battery to see if it works . as for the sensor its only available with the thermostat housing . as far as i can find ? while i was just packing up i noticed that half the rad is stone cold . HELP ME

Sounds like the water pump or more likely it's not being driven so check the drivebelt for slackness.

It may well be the impeller has fallen off the water pump , not unheard of , but the only way to check is to remove pump and check it .

Easiest way to check is take off the cap from the header tank and look at the return side back to the header tank, if water is coming up through there then it's obviously working properly.

ITS THE HEAD GASKET
So now do i fix the lil F*cker (still not knowing Y the gasket went) or 1.8 zetec .

dose anyone no of a step by step guide to fitting a zetec into a sportka. its the wiring thats going to be the problem for me . but i'll get there .
been on the phone for a bit today one of the yards that i do some work in says i can have the front end of a escort gti or mondeo for Ł100.and a m8 no's of a rs1800 thats f@cked that can be had for Ł250. which would you go for.
so if any one no's of a good guide could you pls link me to it.
