advice please - escort van related
im sorry if this is going over old ground but i could really do with some advice before i shell out money that could potentially cause me more problems and expense in the future.
Has any one had any experience with the rear tail gate door that go on Vans, mine is a Mk6
My Van is going into be bodykitted up and one of the Parts im getting is the rear One piece door from Fibresports, ive heard that they are notouriously hard to fit and can cause problems.
Fibresports only do the One Piece door with the window section already removed, ive spoken to them on the phone and they have agreed to fabricate a door for me where the window section remains in place therefore making it a more solid door, they supply the lock and hinges too.
Before i spend the money is this a mod you would recommend ? has anyone had any experience with the problems or fitting one of these doors.
many thanks in advance

Avoid at all costs is my advice
I had one on my Mk4 van years ago
The mould was twisted so it never fitted correctly and used to flex and jump open all the time
You cannot use gas struts either as the door isn't strong enough to support them and trying to get a decent selenoid that is reliable is another matter
The hinges used are not the best and can bend with the weight of the door
they also need to be welded on to avoid coming loose or flexing
The standard steel doors would be my choice every time from now on
They look good but fibreglass is weaker and ripples and is easier to break into
Here is mine
