wasted spark question
I'm having problems with my car it has cosworth management fitted with msd wasted spark driver (rs turbo 1.6cvh engine)
I haven't connected a rev counter yet could this cause any problems?
The problems I have are no spark or injector pulse when cranking
I do get a spark at all plugs when the ignition is switched on
I'm thinking the crank sensor could be playing up but the fuel pump cuts in when you turn the engine over by hand

How i don't envy you mate,i'm going through a load of shiyte with my weber/Pectel ecu too...
I'll give you a few pointers that gave me grief when i first installed the weber inj system onto my non Ford engine, check the phase sensor connection carefully 'cos if it's got a L8 ecu and it's not making contact the mill won't fire.
Turn on the ignition and remove the connector from the phase sensor, and whilst turning over the engine does the fuel pump buzz and system relays click?.
When the sparks are present are they 1-4,2-3 at the plugs? or just a constant, noisy surge of current going to all 4 plugs?,mine did this and it was a loose 12+ feed to the ecu.
The grey tach wire form the wasted spark kit connected to pin 21 or 9 has no effect on the actual running of the engine.
Check the ignition relay is ok and not burnt, when you turn on the ignition have you got 12v at terminal 87 on the relay?.
The crank sensors are quite reliable but change it anyway.
I hope you sort it mate.., mine is really doing my head in

You won't be able to use your existing rev counter with coil pack without doing a mod to it first,You have got the twin ignition amps presumably? Make sure the engine is timed up correctly. The firing order is 1-3-4-2 not 1-4-2-3. When you turn ignition on FP should prime if not this shows CPS to be faulty. Check the connector on this as the pins are known to come loose and lose connection to the car loom side. Also make sure the gap is ok it can be out be a fair bit and still work but not masses.

The fuel pump does cut in when the engine turns over, the firing order is as it says on the coil pack as said it sparks at every plug when the ignitions switched on
I'm ordering a new crank sensor for it in the morning,
We've been through the loom 3 times now checking with multimeters and osciloscope so gonna have to try the crank sensor next
