Default cosworth running problems

fitted a cosworth engine into a mk2 escort

i have fitted a 4wd engine using a 2wd sump
rainbird plenum
megasonic dump valve
3bar map sensor
rs500 intercooler

standard ecu

problem i have is

i get everything wired up and tryed to start it today
after playing with the ht leads and getting to run its seems to be ticking over very fast 3000revs

am i missing something do i need a animal valve????

the guy doing the wiring thinks the ecu could be at felt???

please help after 10months of building the car and finding a brand new cosworth engine from tickford ford

i cant believe im still having problems

ecu is possible but unlikely have a spray around the inlet manifold with brake cleaner or something similar and see if the revs pick up if they do it could be an air leak only need a small leak to raise revs a lot while not under load

i can not see it being the ECU mate it getting to much air take the pipe off the throttel body and have a look and see if the butter flyis closed if it is then start the motor and see wot the revs are doing if its still to hi put your hand over the throttel and slow the air down and see wot happons if its still running you have a very big air leak

you may be onto something when playing the the dizzy to get the car to run im sure i could feel air from the lower part of the plenum

if this is from a bad seal could this make the car rev so high?????

im getting a ecu tomorrow with a 300 bhp chip

if you think it could be the plenum i will have to strip it back down and try and reseal

i used a new gasket and sealant when i did it the first time but im sure i could feel air

check youve got an idle screw in the tb,as above spray wd 40 around the inlet plenum when running and if the revs dip then youve found a air leak,it wont be tps i doubt but you can also unplug this and still run at idle...
What chip you running ecu etc???

cheers danny

could well be the problem mate give all the sealing surfaces a good clean with light sandpaper and fit new gaskets, i wouldnt use silicone sealer as some gaskets dont like it i would use hylomar blue if you can get some its the dogs danglies for sealing anything

that will be a pf09 then mate and will be wrong for a l1 ecu ,you can switch the outside wires around that goes to the tps plug but realy you want to run a l8 ecu and make sure the tps wires are configured...it will say on the outside of the tps case what one it is..
