IV RECENTLY BROUGHT A S2 RS TURBO BUT WHEN IM DRIVING IT THERE SEEMS TO BE A KNOCKING KIND OF NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE , SOUNDS LIKE THE CAM . IT IDLE'S SPOT ON BUT IT ALSO SEEMS TO HOLD BACK MAINLY IN BETWEEN 2-3 RPM LIKE ITS MISSING . WHEN ITS GETS PAST 3OOO RPM BOOSTS & SOUNDS BANG ON ? CAN ANY1 HELP ME B4 I GET A SLEDGE HAMMER OUT

 

could be detination, is it a deep knock or a high top end knock

 

wot does u mean by detination ? sounds like a high top end knock but goes when its on boost

 

i had it last year if i remember the bloke said its when the fuel ignites at the wrong time inside the cylinder, but if ya say high end the cam could be on its way out

 

Have you checked your distribitor timing

 

yeah but i dont know where its ment 2 be ? butit going 2 my local rs speciaist 2morow , so il see what he says & il keep u guys posted .

 

Its meant to be 12degrees advanced at top dead center at 850 rpm with ecu breathing to atmosphre.

thanks to all u guys for quick reply , i sent the car to my local rs specialist & its the shells knocking there tits off , so im having the crank re-ground , new shells , new headgaskit & other surrounding gaskits & set up . hopefully sud be back on the road in 4-5 days , so i can enjoy the sun whilst its out , ow did i mention its a cabby ?

does sound like det to me, try not to give it the beans until its looked at coz u wont like the results if u do

 

iv sent of for a bottom end rebuild [re-gound crank , new shells , headgaskit , etc....] i know the results if i drive it like that mate been there done it b4 in my orange s2 on the motorway in the fast lane @ 70mph on boost , then all of a sudden bang..... i blew a rod out of the bottom end cracked the block clean lol.....
