Exclamation Engine/Gearbox combination problem

Bought a blacktop zetec for mk4 conversion, and wanted to keep starter at rear so bought newer iB5 box too.

Problem i'm having is the sump seems to be the wrong shape for the gearbox. I think the engine came from a mondeo in its previous life so i assume its sump is for an mtx75?

The top half of bolts between gearbox and engine fit ok, but th bottom three just dont, the alloy part of sump is different shape, and the driver's side driveshaft coupling bit fouls the alloy sump.

Should i just cut the alloy sump to right shape or is there an alternative alloy section i can use?

Pics:

Help/options needed, i really dont wanna go down the MTX conversion route as ive got entire gear kit and lsd for iB5!

all the bolt arrangements on all fwd engines bolt up to all gearboxes bc/ib5/mtx75 and so on.
the sump pan however may not, but that really isn't an issue as it doesn't need to bolt to the gearbox.
it's odd to say the least, but i suspect since it's from a mondeo and most/all used the mtx box that the sump wings attatch differently, but as said you don't need to put these bolts in as the other 4 will surfice really.

I cant use the escort sump, it originally had a CVH engine.

Is it worth ringing round for a sump from a factory blacktop escort? Or should i trim the useless looking bit down and drill one or two holes?

Id rather use all the bolts i can rather than only half, i want it reliable and 200ish bhp will be putting little more strain on things than original engine!

they usually say if your putting an ib5 onto a 2.0 block you need a 1.8 sump, oil pump, pickup pipe and flywheel/clutch assembly. The 1.8's were only ever fitted with ib5's no matter what they got put in, so all the 1.8 gear is drilled for ib5 but still fits the 2.0 cause its a zetec

dont change the sump you dont need to and the blacktop sump is a proper baffled sump not like the bucket type 1.8, all you need to do is cut a small part of the sump off where it is hitting the drive shaft then it will bolt up.

edit, this part.

Thanks crazy cage, dont see much point in getting a 1.8 sump... the engine is a 1.8 anyway lol.

I'll get the grinder and air sander out.

Just doesnt look like the bottom holes will line up at all even when trimmed so i was going to drill another hole.

The three holes below where the flywheel bolts up just dont look close.

Id rather more bolts were used than less.

Cheers guys!

the red lines are for a shit plate to stop stones ect getting into the flywheel. the green ones will line up with you engine and blue is the starter motor.

Thanks again mate. I was goin to modify the plate so it was still protected.

Looks like I'll be ordering some high tensile nuts and bolts, I fully intend to use it properly!

you don't need high tensile bolts really, standard ones will be fine, i've not snapped one and i launch mine hard frequently.
saying that they are high tensile as standard IIRC, or at least 10.9's

all fitted together and sorted now.

only thing i noted was that the front gearbox mount can only bolt up with 2 of 3 fixings as not all 3 fitted onto new box. Just didnt seem to be any thread in the top hole.

everything else swapped straight over from old BC box.
