coilpack problem

Can a car running a coilpack only run on 3 cylinders if there was a problem ? or if it goes wrong would it loose 2 cylinders ?

YES, a dud coilpack can be dud on only one cylinder output, had 2 myself within 3 months, till I changed to the uprated ACCEL one, that I now use, direct fit replacement and more spark energy.
