Rich,i will wait till pistons turn up on the door mat then i will phone argue my case for postage, gaskets, bolts etc i think it fair considering they have admitted they have supplied the WRONG good for the purpose they where intended!!!!!!!!!!!

head gasket £30
head bolts £12
big end bolts £21
postage to send wrong good back £19

thats £82 down the pan to start with!!!!!!!!!

I would at least expect compensation in the form of say gift vouchers an offer to pay my costs will have to wait & see!

i know we are'nt all perfect & do make mistakes, glad we fitted cam belt before the engine was put in car,it could of been worse start engine up it would make a nice knocking noise & engine would of soon died
does this sound fair?

will update when pistons turn up

My pistons have turned up at long last they arrived yesterday morning!

unpacked them to find that the crowns are now of a dished apperence

they look like they are the oringinal pistons with additional machining done to them!
maybe they where never machined in the first place

things where looking good untill i realised that the cir clips that hold the gudgeon pins in where not re fitted & where missing from the box

pistons where sent to them with con rods fitted so must have had to remove & re-fit them to do the machining hence forgot to re-fit cir clips

phoned them with-in an hour of recieving good said "sorry" for leaving clips out would send a new set out asap yesterday still waiting for them over a day later

lets hope they turn up for the weekend or they maybe have a unhappy phone call!

anyway i am still smiling just

will be re-fitting them to make sure they are ok before i re-fit the head!!!

thanks for all your input & help guys

I've had a simular experience with Accralite pistons for my Zetec Turbo with Burtons.

Not being no engine expert went in there and said that I was building a 16v zetec turbo and wanted some pistons for the job, gave them the full spec etc......simple enough right

Showed me the Accralite ones and said they'll need machining to get them to the ratio I wanted 8.0:1
Okay no probs just send them to me when done and fitted to my standard zetec rods.

Recieved them in post, can see that they'd been skimmed thought right okay get it built.

Pistons in block and they finish flush with the top of the block, not seeing a zetec block made for turboing thought nothing of it.

Anyway cut a long story shorter.............

Run the engine in, driving around with 3 psi comes to the set-up day on the rollers.........
Got it set up at a bar of boost, but the tuner said the compression ratio's way to high as it wouldnt set-up properly and the power just dropped off to quick at 4.5k rpm.....he said more like 10:1 rather than 8:1

After this we decided to strip the block and have it checked and rebuilt, but before this could happen it bent a rod, ruining my whole engine near enough

Taken the damaged goods to Burtons telling them that the ratio was too high and that they'd ruined my perfectly good new engine.

They are looking into it and were supposed to be calling me back, a few weeks have passed and nothing ............... great service from a supposed good company

Gunna be right on there case this week.........
Seems as tho other people have had bad experiences with pistons for this conversion from Burtons
