Default avo coilovers

right, i have recently bought a frst, its got avo coilovers and has been slammed to the deck by the previous owner.
its so low that the tyres rub the arches on full lock which quite obviously isnt ideal. also i unfortunately live on a hill with umpteen speed bumps up it. so the long and short of it is i want to jack the suspention back up a bit.
so, i've got my c spanner and wd40 but my question is, which way do you need to wind the spring seat to raise it back up?

sorry if this is a stupid question but this is the first car i'v had with adjestable suspention

cheers, ali

I would recommend a professional setup as you could really fuck up the ride (probably no more than currently is!)

Also you have to insure its done on a level ground.

Get them setup professionally

surely as long as i adjust each unit by the same amount of turns and its on level ground it should still be all straight and level?

Not trying to be sarcastic, just helpful, think about what you are trying to achieve, ie you want a greater distance between the suspension arm and the car body.
The spring is taking the whole weight of the car, this won't alter, so the spring is going to stay the same length, thus as the spring is pushing the car body up it needs to be higher to lift higher as the spring length remember is fixed, so as the collar on the strut faces you, you would need to turn the c spanner to the right, or counter clockwise, if you were viewing from above, make sure you give a good spray, and see if there are any locking plugs in the collar, there usually is, undone with allen key(5mm I think).
Don't worry about getting it pro set height wise, set with a ruler.
The idea of coilovers is so you can corner weight the car if you want to go to the extremes for grip/handling, this is done by putting each wheel on a scale to read the weight of the car at that corner, then if one was slightly lower than the adjacent one, "weight" could be added to the corner by adjusting the coilover(moving spring seat up), of course weight never alters but the way the car sees it does.
Saying that most just get them for the ride heigt adjustability, as you are doing.
