Fiesta xr2i 1.8 zetec help please???
Hi everyone,
New to the forum and fords and I need some help!
I have just been given a fiesta xr2i 1.8 zetec 1993 by my brother in law to sell for him, and Ihave just got the battery charged up and ready to look it over, when i noticed that the idel is running at around 2500-3000 rpm.
I have taken the idel air control valve apart and cleaned it all up and cleaned the inlet butterfly and airflow sensor up too.
Put all back together and started it up and now its idelling at around 4-5000rpm??
If i unplug the airflow sensor, the idel drops to around 1500rpm but of course it runs lumpy!
Then after a few minutes of idelling, i noticed some smoke coming from under the car, so I looked underneath and noticed that the cat is glowing red!!
The exhaust is still putting out gasses from it so i dont think it a blocked cat?
Anyone got any ideas as I am stuck!!!
Thanks in advance
Craig

Unburnt fuel will 'glow up' your cat I think..
