Default Dump Valve - Signs of leaking?

When I have my DV fitted and lift off and immediately dip the clutch the engine stalls itself. If it's not fitted the problem never happens. It only happens if the clutch is put down straight away, if left for a second on over run it doesn't happen. Does this mean its leaking?
