Default ST170 Fuel and temperature Gauges

Hi,

I have a 2004 ST170, when I turn the ignition off both the fuel and temperature gauge flick very quickly to half way. Both the gauges operate normally when driving the car and the car drives as it should with no fault lights. Just wondering if this is a sign of any possible faults? The oil pressure and temperature gauges operate normally and go to minimum when the ignition is tuned off.

Thanks for any help

Common problem on Mk1's, remedy is dash replacement but that is expensive, basically the silicon that keeps the gauges in the min position breaks down and causes the gauges to show half.
