Default how to get a wider stance

My mk4 fiesta base model has gone from runabout to keep my rs out of the rain to another project!
Brakes are sorted with some mondeo items, got the 1.7 puma engine in the shed a waiting some love.
But the wheels look crap, I want to keep it on steels or blacked naff alloys as I want the sleeper look, but i would prefer them to stick out further.
I know you can get the spacer blocks from the frp so i could make some of the up but what to do with the front?
Can you spacers and longer wheel studs of change the wishbones and driveshafts?
I'm still on the skinny 13" so i'm not sure how much difference the fatter wheels will do?
On that note anyone know what size wheels/tyres work best? not fussed about looks just something that works.
Thanks for any help

What about using 15" steel wheels will still have stealthy look, but should open up more options, can certainly sapce it out with longer suds etc, but could make it worse as well.
