Default 1.4 to 1.6 Conversion.

Hello there,

I have a 1.4 focus and I want to put a 1.6 in it until I'm 21. I couldnt be bothered with the hassel of selling my car and buying one and 1.6's are common as muck.

How hard is it to do? I heard that it is a straight engine swap and the 1.4 gearbox ECU etc will work fine?

Cheers

Take it from me, you need the 1.6 ecu as well.
And that means problems with the anti-theft system.

Don't bother. For the hassle, either stick a 2litre in it, or buy a new car.

No hassle for the conversion, everything fits from a 1.4 to 1.6. But I did change the ECU round since I had it with the engine. But that was a very long time ago

Don't forget to change the engine size on the logbook as you'll only be paying tax at the sub 1500cc rate and the car will technically be untaxed

Cheers every one for their replies, Cochyn will all I need to do it is the engine and ECU? Will I need a different key or will that stuff work fine still?

Cheers.

You'll need the transponders from the keys that match the 1.6ECU - you need to swap them into your existing keys.
