Zetec throttle bodies???? ideas please
Ok here is the plan.
I shall initially be keeping the standard efi setup and injectors, running off the normal ecu, And using the throttle bodies off the bike. Then after some research last night, it seems there is a huge choice of aftermarket injectors that can be bought from Jenvey. So once ive made sure everything works with the standard injectors i shall be eventually using the bike injector positions with uprated Bosch injectors and an aftermarket ecu to run them.
Turns out, the Zetec engine works best with quite a long inlet manifold and the injectors alot further away from the engine than standard. Making the fuel/air mix better.
Then to keep the MAF, i will have a look at a suitable plenum chamber

Junk the maf in the bin, use air temp sensor and a map sensor, no problem when going aftermarket ecu, that's what we are doing with me dads xr4i(tvr v8) as the injection that we are fitting has a hotwire(maf) so is being binned, it causes a restriction that you don't need to have.

Any suggestions on a suitable ECU, preferably one thats not stupid money? Something that will have control over the bike injectors to start with?
Im assuming that while ever i am using the standard injectors, the standard ecu will be suitable for running until ive got a new one?
I would be tempted to keep all the injection stuff standard until you've bought all the stuff, then fit it all at once and get it mapped, that way you are assured of no problems.
Personally I would go for a Emerald, not the cheapest but not silly money either, with this you get a ecu connector so can put this on the end of your existing loom, then add delete wires as necessary to suit a map for example instead of maf, complete set up cost £280, for three maps, if you want all three, so you can use this ecu on another car, if you have a track car for example, simple swap from one car to the other.
www.emeraldm3d.com this is what I use, mapped by Dave Walker(emerald) himself, hasn't missed a beat, runs so nice, very adaptable as well.
