Hi guys, I have bought a mk3 fiesta (used to be a 1.6) but now has a escort 1.8gti engine installed. I will describe to best of my knowledge to get better help. Its cammed, with 2 litre injectors, throttle body and maf sensor. When I got car the guy said it needed cams adjusted to idle correctly. I have pulled the plug out the maf sensor and it idles but at high revs around the 1700 mark. Is it possible that it could still have the 1.6 ecu? which is making it not fuel enough for it to idle? I was going to get a 2 litre ecu to see if this rectified problem but dont want to waste money and time if its just the cams needing adjusted as he said they only set to standard spec or to those words. it idles but very rough and sometimes cut out when maf sensor on. could idle screw need adjusted? Any help atal would be awesome as Im trying to get it idling correctly for mot. Dont know if I should have a 2 litre lambda sensor dont know if this would make a diff? Thanks in advance for any help!!

A lambda sensor is just that, ie it does not know what engine it is attached to.
In the first instance, the cams on a zetec are not keyed so can be set in any position, even incorrectly.
I would start at the stupid stuff first, put to the std cam settings, with bar in the rear of cams, and peg etc.
Make sure there are no air leaks, clean the maf, reset the ecu by pulling the 2 amp fuse marked KAM, then see where you go from there.
I take it it has different cams to std when you say cammed ?, if you know the spec dial the cams in as per the makers timing figures, check the fuel pressure is correct, make sure the fuel filter is new.

hi tabetha,
I will try this things and let you no how it goes
the guy says he put cams in and are set to standard zetec spec. Its kent cams with the vernier pulleys also. I will have a look at these things you have said as I said you unplug maf sensor it idles no problem you plug it back in and it dies
