Default 4x4 front driveshafts

are there different types?
i ask because when i recently did the sump gasket on my saph 4x4 the inner cv joints just pulled out,(ive been a car mechanic for over 10 years and ive never seen inner cv joints without some sort of retainig clip)where as today i picked up some spares from a chap who happened to have a front diff out on the floor with the o/s inner cv joint still in and it would not just pull out like mine did,and he had a spare n/s/f driveshaft which is different to mine as it had a groove about 1/8" down the spline for a retaining clip, mine has no groove for the retainig clip.whats going on?

xr4x4 shafts are slightly longer,as long as the engine mounts are good, you dont need the circlips.

If you lower a 4x4 Sapphire a lot, it will cause the shafts to pop out, particularly (as mentioned) if your engine mounts are worn. And again as Lloyd said, some people fit the longer XR4x4 ones to help with this.
