Default ST170 Engine Management light on P1518

Hi,

This has just came on recently in my focus. I had it turned off by my mechanic but unfortunately it has came straight back on.

I have read various threads regarding the DSI clip and IMRC.

I stripped the bay and checked the DSI clip which appears to be working fine, it moves when started and moves again when revved beyond 5500rpm so that can't be the problem. This would also suggest that the IMRC valve is also working and not stuck open as suggested in other posts.

Could anyone enlighten me as what else could possibly be wrong?!

Thanks

looking at the code does seem that the inlet port flaps are open when they shouldnt be. Is the car sluggish when pulling away untill the revs get up higher in the rev range?
Have had simular problem with other makes of car and fould the inlet manifold had broken up inside or the flaps broken off.
If your saying the valve is moving correctly does sound more mechanical than electrical to me.

The car doesn't seem to perform any differently than it did before, the ST170 was never really fast until after 5500rpm anyway. Yeah all seems to be working fine which is a bugger as the problem is still at large. Theres really no point in going back to the garage to get the light turned off again as it will only come back on straight away until i can find this problem.

Well after i stripped the bay, cleaned all the bits and bobs that decided to throw the error up i had it reset yesterday and so far the light hasn't come back on! so happy days if it stays like that, fingers crossed.
