Default Ford Explorer 4.0 1997 Help

Hey guys, the old mans got a bit of trouble with the Explorer, when he goes to brake when its idling in traffic, or to put it in gear the engine starts to missfire and cut out. Taken the vacuum pipe off and when brakes pressed without it connected all is fine. So im assuming it could be down to a faulty sensor or servo? Swapped the MAF over and that hasnt made a difference. Any ideas? Cheers

I think you are on the right track, as in something is causing it to run lean, servo one way valve would be my guess.
