do mk 3 fezza turbs 1.6cvh efi have a knock sensor??
i have slight pinking as my other thread states, n im hoping ive solved this by buying a upgraded fuel pump to match power but tonite i noticed that wen i boosted n she pinked, its like it tripped summat n limited me ta 0.5 bar n if i tried exceedin it, id just kangaroo.?? switch off ignition, back on again n shell boost til it pinks then trip again. shes parked up now waitin for my pump but to me it sounds like im activatin the knock sensor. ( if i have 1 ) all replys will b very much apreciated
I am quite certain that FRSTs dont have a knock sensor i think its only the ERST. I dont know if its the amal valve bleeding off the boost to a safe level, maybe due to the lack of fueling?

Pretty sure they don't have knock sensor, the 4x4 Saph Cosworth/Escos did.
All it would do is back off your ignition not what you have explained, sounds more like a rev cut to me what RPM is the problem occuring? It will also as said hit a boost cut.
Out of interest what chip are you running 195 beige?

You dont have a knock sensor, and by the sounds of it you dont even have a working chip as what you are experiencing here is overboost protection cutting in.
cheers lads, n martin, it happens when in 3rd or above and over 4000rpm wen boostin. im runnin beige injectors, t3,- 31 actutor, larger intercooler, n wat should b a 195 bluchip. itll pink 1st then bak off to half bar. ive just looked n not sure if it could be this but wen my m8 fitted the -31, he removed the diy boost valve n fitted a amal valve off a s2. shouldnt it b wired up 2 the ecu?? its a simple fix coz still got old amal plug underbonnet so im gonna plug it up properly. its just weird how it knocks itself into safty mode (0.5bar) wen u get it to pink. got a new pump from motorsport developements today so gonna fit that soon as. its bafflein me dude n im runnin outta cash n knowledge =( i bought her last xmas n shes had 2 FULL rebuilds; loads new upgrades n still not runnin rite. its my 1st rst n i feel like givin up??

1st rebuild was done at a garage costin over 1200 with a genuine new head, but the twat didnt fit me a thermostat, kept same shells when i paid fa new n piston no3 was wrong way grrrrr so 2nd rebuild i got 3 real rst enthuiasts to build n it was done superbly, like brand new inc all hoses n gaskets n a 90 head gasket but never had a amal to fit coz wen i bought her she had a bleedvalve. it was only monday i got a amal valve n a m8 fitted it im gonna swop that this afternoon so its to ecu but u think i bought a dodgy chip??? it cost me 85 notes of ebay???

i no =( it only detonates wen driven hard n im not driving her hard so hopefully she'll be fine. ( crossed fingers) n can i just say thanks for a fast service on upgraded pump, orded afternoon yesterday n here this morning ACE. is there away of checkin evolution chips coz theres 1 on ebay starts at 25 quid??? gonna replace this blu chip for a evolution. coz this bluchip mite b fine but only a 165 chip??? thanks again stu =)

nice 1 stu. ill try n get serial number asap so u can check its spec. many thanks O, n when pumps fitted n providin this other chip is adequote, could u check afr etc n how much would it b if u could??
bleed valves r bad too. infact its recommended not to fit em in my book, hence why it came off. n surely a s2 amal cant be that bad if it wired up to ecu, considerin im runnin s2 turbo n a -31???
Correct with a bleed valve its mechanical, ECU has no control over it, amal valve is electronic and is controlled by ECU, I'm assuming from your post your mates wired it independently in which case it's worse than badly/correctly adjusted bleed valve.

you right mate, n im not disagreeing wit u but i noticed amal valve today n it was just a live n a earth. doh..... but luckily i still had original plug still intact with ecu so ive fitted the s2 amal valve to original plug so its workin of ecu now, not a permanent live. is this ok??
thanks marty, all ur advice has been helpful. fitted new pump today n think its sorted my pinkin issues at boost but not had chance ta try it properly yet to be 100% but she still sounds flat wen i let of throttle, no pops or nuttin, just well flat. but shes ok 4 1st ten mins in mornin. im thinking wind my regulator in to get more fuel?? n e ideas on this 1.. thanks m8
The car is still experiencing a boost cut presumably? With the amal it was it would have hit a boost cut but that may be sorted now its wired properly if not then to need to look at your chip.
You certainly dont want to be touching your reg unless you have the proper monitoring equipment to monitor the pressure and other engine aspects.
Have you considered a set up for it?

ive spoke to stu at msd and he thinks my chip is knackered, hence why boost protection is still kickin in, or it could b im runnin a 165 chip as i did buy it of ebay but is suppose to b a 195?? gonna grab a new evolution 195 i think n go from there. as for a set up, im struggling to find anywear decent near me. ive spoke to 3 companys and 2 said the same (" can only set reg on a efi ") and the 3rd wanted 500£ for a new programable ecu n 600£ to fit so a total of 1100£. im happy with my mods and im capable of running 200bhp so i only wanna set up by somebody who knows wat there doing and not rip my eyes out. any suggestions on wear to go?? im in notts/lincs
Oh yes more than likely if it's brought off Ebay, dont forget just because it's labelled as 195 it dosen't mean it is it's just a sticker. Do you know what boost your are making when the protection activates?
Sounds like best plan what you have decided getting a proper chip, when you get the chip it's pretty much plug and play, probably wise just to have AFR, CO checked after. Pretty sure Evolution chips are written for standard fuel pressure normally.
