Help me, think I just bought a dog!!
I have just bought this car. Cheap I know, I thought I was getting a bargain!!!

The car is in very good condition cosmetically but mechanically has been giving me grief already.
On the way home it wouldn't rev past 4K and would only boost to 0.2 bar, then a mile away from my house the top end started rattling like a tractor. The oil pressure light is nackered so I don't know if there's pressure and there is no dipstick due to him not fabricating one for the ZVH conversion. There are receipts for everything including zvh rebuild and T3 turbo and it hasn't done many miles since. I am totally new to Fords but not new to problems as I've had 3 R5 Turbos lol
Any advice on what steps I should take to see what the problems would be much appreciated

Hi, thanks I will do that in the morning. Do you know what might be causing it not to rev past 4k? I know since the build it has run well as theres a printout for 208bhp.

not sure whats wrong with it mate but you got that really cheap. my mate sold a 2.1 zvh engine with nothing on it ie no turbo, manifolds nothing, just the block £750. think you have the bargain of the century! if you cant fix it then sell it as you'll still make money with the problem present

it could be several things so now you get the fun game of one by one going through each one until it just starts working again first tho i would just check all the connections and oil level/oil pump
ud be bonkers not to fit an oil pressure gauge on somthing like that. get one on it

I have done a compression test today and got 12 bar on all cylinders does this sound about right? I drained the oil and there was hardly anything in it, put 4 litres of new oil in and the tappets have got much quieter. Checked turbo bearings and only very slight play. What is the sump capacity on the ZVH as mine doesnt have a dipstick? How would I go about about fitting an oil pressure gauge? Thanks, Mitch.

There is no dipstick, I phoned the seller and he said he didn't get around to fabricating a new dipstick tube after he did the conversion. All there is, is an oil hose that goes from where the dipstick should be, to somewhere under the turbo.

maby check to see if there is any oil presure first? or evon if there is any oil in the car at all for that matter

I don't know a lot about about these cars tbh so excuse my lack of knowledge. He said the injectors are the biggest he could get and will support up to 250bhp. Uprated internals apparently not sure what. I'm picking up the rear seats from him on Sat so I will have a list of questions to ask him lol Does my compression test off 12 bar on all cylinders seem ok?

sound like he has used the dipstick hole for the turbo oil return? if a pipe goes from dipstick to turbo?
We are only in Chatham Kent Medway RS Centre we could have a look f.o.c if you run it over advice is free

He did tell me exactly what spec injectors pistons etc but it went over my head at the time as I havn't done any research on these cars. I was actually looking for another renault 5 turbo when I saw this. I road tested it and it coughed and it felt like it hit a rev limiter at 3.5k revs and the brakes were shockingly bad. But I see it as a good base as a project as most of the hard work has been done already and there is no rot. Are my compression test results ok?

I have just found out the car has standard compression Wossner pistons, standard management and it has beige '701' injectors.
I need to remove the front hub assembly does anyone know how to do this?
