So I've got a problem with the mondeo its a 2.0 glx automatic and it only drives in 1 and 2 but not in drive

any ideas??

It could be the electronic gear selector, this lives in the top part of the box, easily accessible, and only around £40, but it could also be a forward clutch drum.
My advice is to take to a auto trans place, where they will drive the car and so have much better idea, there is a very good one in Coventry, on Fosehill(sp) Road I think, haven't been that way for over 10 years!!

It's something like "gears", as it was quite catchy I remember it.
If not the nearest place that i could personally recommend would be ATP Transmissions in Bristol!!
John Lovegrove there is a wizz and built me a autobox with V8 rover front end, but with BMW 850i tail end to convert to 2wd(was 4wd), beefed up using ZF4HP24 components in a ZF4HP22 casing so uber tough.

just another question have you checked you fluid level as this causes big problems in auto gearboxs

Right well after only knowing about the problem from the first owner I experienced it for myself for the first time today.

Basically the car will drive normally some times.

Then there is this gerk like its flipping through the gears madly..

then the revs will go mad like 5k 3k 6k 3k all in the space of a few seconds of each other.

and the car loses all drive in D

this only seems to happen after driving it for a short while and also when at high speeds e.g. motorway.

which is currently making it impossible to drive on the M roads at the mo
