The GTI label was just a gimmick by ford as it only meant bodykit and half leathers apart from that its just a Si ,without going silly moneywise a good quality exhaust and air filter will improve things and maybe a upgrade to a 2 litre throttle body and maf will add a couple of bhp,if you want to spend money on it then I would go for the 130ps set up of cams etc from some of the older Si models ,as the 2 litre conversion is not worth the aggro as you will still be sub 150 bhp anyway, down to money fella as you can turbo them but you wont get much change out of Ł1000 for that install ,heres mine below at this years FITP

I now break escorts and mainly GTI/RS2000 models and the main cause for me breaking them is the owners give up on them due to chassis rail rust and rear wheel arch issues,I was lucky with mine as I dont have this issue but then again I would have not bought it if it did,but yes its very common and for some reason the RS2000s are far worse than any other escort for some reason,as for bottom arms I suggest you dont buy these cheapo ones from motor factors or ebay as they are pure rubbish and wear out mega fast,go for genuine ford around Ł50 a side but you wont regret it,hope it helps matey

The GTI is a better looking escort than most in the range hence why so many copy the bodykits and fit them to their non GTI/RS models .my pet hate is people that fit a bodykits then badge their car up a GTI it does make my grin,as the log book (v5) does not agree, best of luck with yours fella ,may see you at a show next year,I normally show with ukford or eodc but who knows for next year

you can sign up on www.eodc.co.uk free of charge and the same with www.ukfordoc.com and as soon as 2010s shows list goes up all you need to do is speak to relevant events organisers of both sites, there are plenty of other escort sites about but most only want your money and membership fees and are not interested in you.
