Head Gasket Mondeo ST200
I've got the usual clicky engine noise on my ST200 , pretty much every one says its the common head gasket fault.
The car's done 130k so i've decided to get the head gaskets done anyway , although i'm getting our family mechanic to do it , is there anything else i should look to do at the same time , i.e parts being removed so might as well clean them up , manifold gaskets etc .
i know its quite a big job so i'd like to get as much done in that one hit as possible
Cheers

the ticking could be a manifold gasket not a head gasket.
while your having the work done get the secondaries and UIM cleaned. it may be prudent to get a metal water pump if you still have a plastic one as they are prone to failing.

what do you mean by the secondaries ? (sorry not mechanically minded)
I'm gonna detail as much of the engine as i can whilst its in bits so was going to clean the UIM / LIM anyway
I'm getting this head gasket kit with new headbolts , looking at it does anyone know if its got the UIM and LIM gaskets in there

the secondary inlet runners, they open around 3900rpm at light throttle and around 3400rpm at wide open throttle you should feel them operate when booting it. they can get gummed up and also the inlet maniold runner control (imrc) can fail
some info on fixing a failed one here http://www.fordmondeo.org/wiki/index.php/Fix_IMRC
you may have to register, its free but there is a wealth of info on there and worth it. if you do i'm on there as d c
