Default cossie stinks of fuel?????

I have a 2wd saff which is running greens, 3bar, t34, 500 cooler boosting to about 12psi and thats about all i could tell you off the top of my head when driving it normally it seems to be fine but when i nail it and alow it boost when i come off boost i get a strong smell of fuel and too be honest it doesn't seem that quick.

when i pull away and come to a stop some times the revs drop right down and then pick up i adjusted the base idle to about 850 and that stopped it from dropping the revs all the time. so i'm guessing that it is running lean on idel but seems to be running rich when on boost.

i cleaned the car the other day and made sure that the tail pipe was nice and shiney but after taking it for a short drive the tail pipe was black again i'm assuming from running rich

i was thinking about changing the map sensor?????

any ideas what could be at fault

cheers,
Phil

I would defo speak to Karl(NMS) to see how much boost, an fuel pressure etc is supposed to be used with this chip, his chips are excellent especially if gunship ones.
Don't take any notice of the tail pipe colour, they will always go black, due to producing carbon burning fossil fuel, years and years ago(I can remember!!) tailpipes were a nice grey colour, but this was due to the lead in the fuel.
Maybe book it in somewhere for a RR set up to get the best, would likely pick up any faults as well if any.

12 psi is stage 1 power, so you can increase that easily, most stage 3 peak at around 28psi and hold 22/24 psi

if you phone them up with the chip serial number they can tell you what the base CO% should be, "normally" its between 2-3%. they will also tell you what safe boost to run

i would highly recommend getting it in for a set up (around £150) at most decent places, especially is you dont have access to a CO% analyser.

do it sooner otherwise you might blow your engine.

edit: your in Kent, so i think you've got tommy field motosport near you? try them http://www.fieldmotorsport.com/contact.html or maybe Power engineering? http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/
