i took my rst for a drive yesterday and raelised that it was abit tappity , so i pulled up at home and checked dip stick 2 c there was no oil so i topped it up and started the car left it for about 30 secs then revved it , but the noise didnt stop it got louder . sounded like the engine was knocking from top end . i looked at the clocks to c that the oil light was on constantly. i been told by a mate sounds like a oil pump is knackered .
does that sound right ? how do i change it ?

NICE
AS IT GOES I HAVE DONE THINGS WHICH HAYNES SAY YOU CANT?
I LISTEN TO YOU LOT
dont want to hijack this post but
if you have oil pump off and gearbox/flywheel too and engine supported from above you could change the crank if he has scored it due to low oil pressure and chewing the bearings
somethink he might have todo

yeah you could but having to take the gearbox out to get the fly off etc, would be quicker and easier do what you need by removing the engine

Also worth checking if your oil pick pipe is blocked mate and starving
everything of oil. Silicones and gasket sealents can clog the metal
gauze inside the pipe with ease.
Might be something so simple as that.
Still worth fitting new pump, gaskets, mains and big end bearings though
as there probably scorched to death from lack of oil.
