right, my car is currently at peugeot having some work done, one of the tasks was to fit the new r888 tyres to the centreless alloys that we have!

first problem they came back with is that the tyre machines they have do not have enough pressure to put the stiff sidewalled r888's on,


second problem is that they do not have the correct adaptor to balance the centreless rim! so ive now tried a independent tyre place, who will fit and balance the wheels for £20 a rim, which is a bit steep for me! £80 out of the none existant budget may cripple me at the moment!

basically, does anyone know a cheaper way around this?

also how crap are peugeot for not having a tyre machine capable of putting on the tyre in the first place! piss poor if you ask me!!!

best bet that works for me is to just go to your local kwik fit and give the boys cash in hand to fit them,usually charge about £30,dont go into the reception though just walk into the workshop and they might tell you to come back later

My advice would be to avoid anywhere like kwik fit. What you want is a wee local place. The kind of place that looks dodgy as hell and has a guy about 80 doing the work.
Kwik fit are robbing barstewards. Smaller local places are usually happy to do that kind of work, and almost all tyre places will have facilities to do centreless rims

 

ive found two so far who can do it out of about 15 places rang!

I'm surprised the Peugeot dealer doesn't have the right adapter, they used to be one of the few places to get centre-less wheels done because of the 205 GTi alloys! Someone probably walked away with the adapterAsk the dealer who they use and either get the dealer to send them there or deal with them direct if the price is all right.

 

already done that at a quote of £20 a rim, so £80 for the four, which screams rip off to me! never paid more than a £10 before!

there is a bit more work balancing the centre less wheels, as you can't just throw them on the machine, the centre less hub needs setting up then each wheel has to be bolted up to the machine, so its all down to time, I work for kwik fit 8), the runflat tyre machine will get the tyres on with ease, and the balancers we've got these days are fantastic

 

You don't work at Cleveleys do you?

 

A wheel that has no centrebore hole going all the way through the wheel, standard 106 gti/saxo vts wheels are a good example.

i work for kwik fit too and if your going in to see the guys instead of going to the till they will sort you out no problem normally
every kwik fit should have the adaprtor as newer pug's have centreless wheels too
