I'm sure the 1100 valencia engine was fitted by ford so should be no problem.

Yes it was, thats why i thought it would be fairly straightforward, what i was wandering was whether i need the 771 fwd block or whether the 711 rwd block would fit as i know that the mounting casts are different.
Anybody shed any light?

Think the mounts are different..... MK1 XR2 block might be a good starting point as it probably slots straight in unless you're wanting to fit something you've already got?

The cvh in the car is not in the best of health, what i was thinking was to locate a 1300 x/flow and lightly tune it, it wont be far off the power of the cvh plus i can get the car into the lower tax bracket!
Just a thought really, any advice or feedback as to pointless or a good idea would be greatly received.

I doubt there would be any real advantage in using an old 1300 X-flow over a 1300 HCS valencia which would be a lot easier to source and fit..... it would probably be slower too!
Not sure how you go about having a car regraded to a lower tax bracket, might need inspected?

I quite fancy doing a bored out long stroke Valencia on bike bodies myself!

Apparently the dvla require a receipt for the engine or a garage inspection, it would then be officially changed on the log book and recognised for the cheaper tax.
Is the valencia the 1.3 from mk3 fiestas?

You can get the X flow up to 1988CC using south african AX block and stroker crank, lovely combo.

And Mk4 Escorts/Orions 88-90. High compression swirl engine, runs a twin choke weber, (TLDM).
