Anyone know how to time rs turbo correct and firing order, won't start
Basiclly the story goes the water pump failed and sprayed water everywhere so replaced the water pump today.
When i went to re-fit it all up i put the timing marks so bottom was at tdc and the top end.
Tried starting car and it just kept turning over, eventully it started but was really shitty when trying to rev the car.
It was like my fot was further down on the accelerator then the engine revs were following afterwards not very responsve on the throttle.
Took the belt off againg and tried again this time it just kept turning and then went bang out the exhaust.
I've put it down to the timing being out.
The car was last setup by jamie at jamsport and i'm not sure if he has advanced the timing or what but now i can't get it to start
anyone know a simple method to check everything and get it started?
thanks in advance

it is already set to 9 degrees or something on the cam itself as the arrow points there. Can u not line up the arrow thats on the piper timing pulley and fit the belt? or does it still need specialist timing?
surely there gotta be an easy way to do it, if u took ur car to a garage for a belt change and adjustable timing pulley would give them loads of trouble?
cheers

you should of got a timing disc with the cam if you brought it new.
what i would do just to make sure its timed right, put the vernier pulley back to 0 but rember where it was, then set the bottom at 114degrees and the top at TDC then you know its more less right... then use the vernier pulley and the dissy to fine tune

it was already fitted to the car the cam that is.
Car was running crystal before and making very good power i'm thinking it going to need re tuning from a specialist.
i should have a timing disc somwhere, but haven't done timing myself before but am willing to give it a go.

when you do it take the rocker cover off, get a mate to check NO1 inlet is open!
not to tell you how to suck eggs but make sure you turn it over with a spanner before trying to start it, can never be to safe!
good luck

so no 1 piston closest to cambelt will be at the top might put screwdriver in to make sure its at the top with the spark plug removed.
then with rocker cover off make sure inlet valve on no 1 is open
would this mean the valves on no 1 are out or sitting in there seats still?
