Can some one please tell me the best way to remove all the carbon off my zetec head and valves its quite bad.
can i use caustic soda???

The valves I just use a bench grinder with a wire wheel, works perfect.
For the head I use a attachment in a drill, gently though.

a pillar drill also works well on valves agree with tabetha on the head his warning really is important very easy to damage the head

thanks for the advice. i'll be having the head skimmed after in what way can i damage the head??

also if i get a wire wheel for my dremel is it ok to use this on the exhaust ports to clean off the carbon????

deep scratches gouges would upset airflow on a ported head could ruin all the good work if u had had it done also remember the metal is not very thick doubt if a wire brush for a dremel will be man enough a electric drill and a cheap decoke set would be better

I use a rotary pointed wire brush attachment in the drill, just don't go gouging metal away.
