IB5 gearbox limits

Default IB5 gearbox limits

hi guys been a long time since i posted on here what in need to know is what are the bhp/torque limits of the ib5 box and if possible is there any way to make them dtronger ? many thanks in advance

It's impossible to put a figure on it. Ford will rate the box at a particular torque value, anything above that is down to 1) luck, 2) how you drive it, 3) condition of the box, 4) etc etc etc..

Officially 185lb/ft.

My IB5 did OK at 310lb/ft, had the occassional gearset and frequent new bearings though. (now on Ebay!! LOL)

Another way of looking at it:
The most torque you will ever put through a gearbox is mostly determined by the clutch and tires.

right cheers guys im looking at around 230-240 ish torque wise. is there any uprated bearing etc i could put in to be on the safe side ?
