RS1600i Turbo Technics Problems!
Got my mint RS1600i, bodywork is stunning, but the car has had a Turbo Technics conversion many moons ago.
Drove the car home and it drove quite smooth, but would not boost properly at all, just hesitated and backfired when you put your foot down. So had to keep revs below 2k all the way.
Taken off pipes and they are FULL of oil, apart from water pipes, every other pipe was dripping with it. Turbo has some play in it, so i expect it to smoke a bit under boost.
Doing some digging and the car has a pink relay (off an RST), but no other modifications to the loom and does not have an RST ECU. There is also another plug behind the dash that looks like it should have a relay connected (it has a red wire, black/yellow wire, two black wires together and another one that i cant remember)
The car isnt too happy at starting (when its hot or cold)
I am going to try and get this engine working as it should, my next option will be either I4 or ST170 it................
