Hello all.

My question is, are the con rods from a 1.8l silvertop zetec engine the same as the con rods from a 2.0l silvertop Zetec.

Reason.

The reason i ask is i am building a ZVH from a blacktop engine. So with i bought a Silvertop now. Anyways. My C20XE mahle pistons came today so i am very excited to collect the rest of my parts. I will go to the scrap yard this weekend and take the sump, pickup pipe and flywheel of a 1.8 zetec but i still am in need of pistons. I do not want to take another engine to bits for the pistons if i can do it all from the one engine. Any Ideas?

As far as im aware the crankshaft and rods are the same in the 1.8 and 2ltr silver top zetec engines.

 

So no difference in the length and the size of the small end then?

 

No, as Red16 said, they're the same.

AFAIK there were only 4 different rod dimensions made by Ford.

'Silvertop'
'Blacktop' European
'Blacktop' FRS
'Blacktop' American (Normal & SVT{ST170}, but same dimensions)
