The diff...or shaft goes through the sump yeah?
What would be the score if the engine was dry sumped?

Pics of where the box/diff/shafts are in relation to the sump would be nice.

Talking

the l/h shaft goes through a sealed tube in the sump its under the plate in the sump in the first pic and has no interaction with engine oil or anything else, the sump serves as the mount for the diff, any seals are only to stop diff oil leaking out between the diff and the world. the sump tube carries some diff oil to the support bearing located behind the spedo drive cover
