Default Need Help.....20bhp resistor?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

i got this thing of ebay for a 5ver that sposidly gives ya 20bhp lol
it looks like a resistor. that connects to ya coolant temperatur sensor.
This is exactly what the instruction guide says...

Locate the IAT sensor on your air intake tubing or in the airintake manifold. (if you do not have the IAT sensor, locate the plug on the coolant temperature sensor).

remove the plug and insert the resistor into the slots on the sensor.
wrap up the sensor with electrical tape (the sensor is not plugged back in)
start up your car and take for a spin. you will be able to feel the difference immediatly..

questions....
1. would this work
2. how the fuck does it work o n ya coolant temp sensor
3. would it have been easier to put a 5ver in the toilet and flush

any help would be helpful....
thanks

dave

no. 3 is prob most true

I'm pretty sure it makes th ecu think th eengine is cooler than it really is so that it will add more fuel making the mixture richer and therefore in theory of the boyracer making the car faster

Dave, believe me, its bollox Wankers

What its doing is telling the ecu that the engine is slightly cooler than it really is whick in turn ups the injector duration somewhat.

On 90% of modern cars this is usefull as they are mapped to run 1 or 2 lambda points on the lean side for emissions and economy. However, when your engine really IS very hot and the ecu needs to retard the timing to stop detonation, it wont as that resistor has put a delay in the system

Also,
Give her a try at starting and running cold without teh coolant sensor plugged in to enrich her for you

Wankers mate....
