cut a story short i cant get my escort rs turbo to boost over 8-10psi ! ive tried 3 turbos and no difference at all ! just wont boost any higher!

anyone had this before or can think of whats causing this??

ive got an airtec front mount intercooler.
running cossie managment.

before i took the engine out i was running 28psi.
then i bought new turbo,intercooler and tubula manifold.

any ideas?????

The only thing i can think of is a split in a hose or something.

Have you tried putting the old exhaust manifold back on?

Whats changed since you took the car off the road for the bodywork?

Could also be a hose collapsing under boost. I had that on my old s2.

i've tried 3 manifolds and three turbo's ! only thing left is intercooler? me and joe are gonna put a boost gauge straight ftrom the turbo housing later to see if its actually producing boost.help gary help !!!!!!

You tried the old intercooler?

just wondering if there is a restriction in the intercooler.

I am also wandering about this as i have just built my engine and it wont boost over 0.5 bar and my actuator is wound right in.

solved !!!!! i tried a standard intercooler i had laying about and it boosted off my gauge !! so there must be something stuck in the intercooler !!! im going fishing init 2morrow will update on what i found!!!

When you say airtec cooler was it one of the cheep ish ones from ebay as this is what i have bought and i have the same problam. thanks

it was the old stlye series 1 intercooler with the angled end tanks.
i phoned them today and they told me that there was a fault with some of the cores!!

I have the exacto same problam. as you said further up gunna put my boost guage striaght to the compressor housing and see if there is full boost before the cooler.

can i steal this thread s1 cab as you found your problam.

I have the same problam i am getting 1.2bar at the turbo and only getting 0.6 bar at the inlet i have no boost leaks or collapsing hoses does this sound like the same problam you had, I dont have another cooler to try, just wandering before i give the seller on ebay some abuse for selling me a shite cooler.

yeah definatly the same prob!! phone airtec direct on 01375850062. coz in end of the day its their product thats faulty !
