My mate has got a S2 RST gearbox in his XR2 track car and has been ok until now. The other day it just would not engage reverse for some reason. All other gears are fine and no tell tale whines or noises when on the move. The gear linkage is ok and set correctly, we even swopped that over to eliminate it as a possible cause. Oil level is ok too.

Has anyone got any idea as to why it woun't engage reverse ?

hi kev you can adjust the reverse gear inside the box,i had a simlar problem as reverse kept on poping out of gear.....take the fifthed gear of and you can get to it,you need to losen the 13mm bolt off and turn a straight headed screw tight and lock the 13mm bolt back up...hope it makes sence to you

 

im rebuilding a box in a couple of days.....ill take some pics for you if you can wait mate

If you can take a few pics when you rebuild the box that will be a great help. Yeah I know which bit your on about and if i'm right this can be done without taking the box out.
