Hi people,
Just wondering here, got me some Stage 2 Comp cams to go in my focus and was wondering whether I can get them fitted and run them on standard timing and bluefin map or whether I should do a remap and adjust them with verniers at the same time? Would it run decent enough on just the cams fitted and the bluefin on stock timing? It's just that I don't think I'll be able to put the money together to have it all done in one go and was thinking should I just get them in there first and worry about remap and adjust later?
Thanks!

How deep is your wallet, and how much time do you spend in the pub......![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Why do you think a remap will give you a cost effective, significant, change in performance, especially given your previously stated aims for mid-range cruising as a priority. If you haven't any significant induction system or head work I really can't see the point.
I've a focus engine that ran 180bhp/154lbf.ft on Bluefin 'generic' remap, and is still running well 2 years later.

Most of the time, on the road, a turbo engine is sucking.......
Stage 2 cams aren't exactly radical, and the Focus Blacktop head flows quite well without being touched ^^^^. (Sorry inside knowledge of what pani_k drives as he never bothers to say). The 'plastic' manifold is mildly restrictive, more from inlet tract length than anything else, as a road engine. The '98 one is what I use with mild clean-up. At least Europe never got the American 'late' one!
The only other comment I'd make, is also on the suck/blow issue of turbo engines, when on load. N/A cams usually make use of the momentum of the gases flowing to increase the gas flow by overlapping the exhaust and inlet opening. This doesn't work very well with a pressure on the inlet passages. If your lucky you just blow unburnt mixture down the exhaust....
Anyway, what are your views on the topic, pa_sjo, is a remap necessary when fitting Stage 2 cams to a Blacktop Zetec?![Confused](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
