grinding from front near side wheel on S2!!
Alright Chaps,
I have a S2 Escort Turbo.
Over the weekend I noticed a 'Squeaking' noise coming from the front near side wheel.
After somemore driving the 'squeaking' developed into a grinding noise which seams to get worse when i turn corners.
I took the wheel off and checked the disc, pads etc, and they all apear to be in fine condition.
The cv joint also looks fine.
I have had bearing failures in the past but never heard the grinding noise before, which makes me think it could be more that the bearing!! (I hope not).
Is there any chance this could be the driveshaft??
Any help you could give me with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

have you removed the pads to check for any trapped stones/chippings? also did you check for play in your wheel bearing, if theres some play it could be the disc tipping & touching the pad carrier. your sure its the wheel area & not the gearbox as that makes a squeeling noise when its v/low on oil.good luck mate

i had this on my old s2, even though i had replaced the bearings, found out it was a worn hub, so the bearing wasnt tight on it. Replaced the hub and another bearing and it was sweet.
Is it lowered??
