Biodiesel in Focus TDCi
I am looking to blend my own Bio-Diesel to use in a 2002 Focus TDCi (115ps). Ford, tell me a maximum of 5% Bio-Diesel is acceptable. Why is this? What needs to be changed to enable the car to run on 100% Bio-Diesel?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
my brother has started to try mixing his diesel with cooking oil.... only this is in a 1.5 diesl metro lol. the test dummy car. he is mixing it 50% diesel - 50% cooking oil, so far it has run ok. obviously it will take a little for any problems to arrise, so we'll let you know.
p.s. the only down-side at the minute is the car makes you hungry... all you can smell is the chip shop!!! lol

The first thing the cooking oil will do is clog up your fuel filter so you will need a new one, other then that you should be fine i think....well as long as its filtered and made properly

You do know there is a difference between bio diesel and veggie oil "diesel". You can run almost every car on veggie oil .Just warm it up before it gets in the pump. Thats all it needs. In the summer when its hot most of the time you don't even need to warm it. Do a search on youtube for veggie oil.

put it in a common rail you are asking for trouble ,it does not have the lubricants of modern fuel ,just like putting cherry in them it
do not do it ,old type diesel pumps you will get away with it 50/50

Ford say a max of 5% because thats what can be commonly found in the fuel at the pump. more than this and they will NOT hold you warrenty on the engine, and they can prove that you've been using it.
JAmes.
As said its only really safe to be useing it in older vehicles ,you dont want to be putting it in a common rail engine thats for sure... Get yourself a 306 td or simlar that will love the stuff and save you a small fortune in fuel costs if you can get the oil cheap enough in the 1st place... I will only run mine on new veg oil rather than used....
i wouldn't mate i ran my 93 orion on it and it loved it, ran my 306 on the same stuff and it killed, ran my mondeo on it and it smokes like hell like the 306 did before it died don't do it
