Default Cosworth electrical gremlins!....

Hi all

Wondering if anyone can help me resolve this.....

Cosworth 2WD F plate - electrical issue started with a bouncing rev counter needle but led to a now on/off working rev counter and temp gauge. Together with this, all linked i'm sure, the battery light comes on and sometimes the electric windows and indicators fail to work.....

The other day, the car completely shut down at 30mph, but I managed to bump start it back to life....Any possible cures would be greatly appreciated!

Regards

Kris

Sure the bouncing rev counter can be a faulty crank sensor?

Rev counter will bounce when stalled anyway, but I would check the cps connector with the wiggle test.

The rev counter needle started off just bouncing when driving along, but this was a year or so ago but the problem has since got worse. The needle now seldom springs to life, or does not move at all and like I said the temperature gauge stops working at the same time.

Could this just be a loose earth? and if so where is it located?

Thanks

Fault seems to be rectified now.....was all linked to a loose multi plug behind the instruments.

Yep..not sure how many plugs behind there, but it was one of them that was loose. Jeff at GL Auto's in Iver, Bucks sorted the problem for me.
