As a newby to ford and turbos I was looking for advice to curing this problem.I run a fiesta xr2i with a frst engine and box fitted with a t3 turbo,the car is caged up and stripped internally.Took it to Cadwell park and found it would do a couple of laps and then would start cutting out at 4k,gently accelerating above 4k it was ok but hard down it was missing although it was more like the engine was being switched off.I realise I have plenty to learn about these engines and turbo charging.Not under load the engine would rev cleanly and does not overheat and the boost gauge shows about 12psi.Thanks for reading Dave

 

Unless you want to carry a bucket to pick up the bits of a melted engine, get it on the rolling road for a check, sounds like it is running lean, could be as simple as a blocked fuel filter, but may very well need tweaking fuelling wise, a small outlay now can save a large outlay later.

I took out the fuel pump as the engine would not fire and yet I could hear the pump running.I had already slackened off the fuel filter union to check if fuel was getting there but no.The pump had come off the damper which sits between the pump and the outlet.Do you know if its possible to fit a remote pump rather than one which has to go back in the tank.Once I have got everything running I intend to take it for a rolling road check,there is one in Wakefield 12 miles away.Dave
