Unfortunately the K&N air filter i have bought off a friend for my xr2 will not fit my carb. The mounting plate is square with four screw holes and my carb has three screw holes within a circular surrounding lip.

Please see the following links for pictures of the currently installed airbox and the K&N mounting plate supplied.

If there is anybody who has any idea what i could do to get the K&N to fit or the reason why it doesn't fit my carb please reply to this topic!

I am aware that there were two webber carbs made for the xr2, is this the K&N for the earlier carb?

you have the tld carb which is the right one for an xr2 and i think the square top one is of a xr3 you could get a xr3 carb or just sell the air filter you have and get one that fits on the tld carb i have a push on weber filter looks the same as the xr2 one pm if interested have you got the bigger jet that comes with the filter?

 

make up a adapter plate, thats all i did, get some sheet metal, cut it to size to fit on your carb with the bolt holes in the right place then adapt that to fit onto the k&n.
thats all i did putting square top carb filter onto a round a round top one then did it again to swap back again. if you have the auto choke id ditch it though as they are crap and make up a manual choke conversion for it.
