Hi folks im new to the site, stumbled across you when i was googleing thie afternoon. I own a 99 Mondeo st24 which since i have joined started to make a strange whineing noise. It seems to be coming from the top left of the engine as you look at it. Here is a few pics......






That is where the noise seems to be coming from, it seems to get worse when you tug on the steering which say to me it could be somthing to do with the power steering. But the noise seems to be coming from behind the pully thingy. Also under the engine mount. Im not a wizard when it comes to engines.

Sorry if i have not followed any rules here peeps but there dont seem to be a newbie area, im a member on a couple of other fourums, and i know how they like you to introduce your self..

Power steering pump or water pump?

 

try replacing the fluid in the power steering

Panic over Checked level of power steering fluid again this mornining (when it was light). And found it to be about an inch under min. So i have bought some fluid that stops leaks (well surrposed to any way) and hey presto no whining
